You can bridge a 4-channel amp down to 2 channels, but not 1 channel.

Which way should i wire the subs?

if 2 4 ohm subs were wired in series 2 equal an 8 ohm setup n i wire that in Parallel with another 4 ohm would it put out a 2.6 ohm load?

amp is stable down to 2 ohms

or

wire the 2 10%26quot; 4 ohm subs like normal and bridge the 12%26quot; 4 ohm sub
Which way should i wire the subs?
well,refer to this

Wiring 3 subs?

if 2 4 ohm subs were wired in series 2 equal an 8 ohm setup n i wire that in Parallel with another 4 ohm would it put out a 2.6 ohm load? 2.66667 r the exact numbers i was given.

amp is stable down 2 2 ohms.

7 hours ago - 3 days left to answer.

yes man,it will 2.6
Which way should i wire the subs?
Mixing sub sizes will result in sound anomalies you may not want.

If you want three subs, have them all the same.

More info here http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

I'm looking for an fm transmitter/car kit to use with an ipod. help?

I remember seeing one somewhere that had an adapter for the ipod, a click wheel type device that could be mounted to the steering wheel for navigating the menu, and a screen that you could mount on the dashboard. (it would look exactly like the ipod screen). I don%26#039;t remember the name, but I like this one because you can still control it easily without even touching your ipod. If anyone knows what product I am talking about, please post an answer. But now days they tend to stick closely to the specs when making amps. But my pick would be the Lanzar, They are used a lot in competitions too!!!
Reply:Personally I would go with Lanzar. I have used them before and was very happy with the result. Untill I blew it up :( But that was not because of a bad product. I made a small mistake with the wiring. oops
Reply:Hmmm...rotten egg or rotten tomato....that%26#039;s a tough one.
Reply:ok so bad and badder here right? well for starters lanzar used to be a quality product you guys remember old school optidrive right? and then we have boss oh no not the lowend cheapebay boss well there is a upside to every down boss audio was and is owned and built by planet audio who makes a quality topnotch product they come off of the same line lanzar is slowly becoming the new pyramid so if i had to pick between them id go with the boss<div series?
multiple batteries are connected in series as in a flashlight, positive to negative. Laptop batteries work like this, having 12 1.2 volts cells in series, supplying 14.4 volts.

Batteries are wired in parallel to supply more current. Or in the case of batteries they are wired from positive to negative to increase voltage. i.e. two 6 volt batteries wired in series to make 12 voltage.

Please help! What would be a good size amp to get, it%26#039;s a 300 watt max, 4 ohm sub, just need a little extra kick, nothing super special.
What kind of amp?
First find out the RMS power. MAX or PEAK power is an arbitrary rating with no real use.

Find an amp that matches the RMS power at 4 ohm. Be sure to bypass the factory amp.
What kind of amp?
whats the rms? check the rms on the sub then get the same rms amp.. never go by %26#039;max%26#039; or %26#039;peak%26#039;.. rms is the continuous running power of the sub. im guessing get a 100 to 300 rms amp though..

Help with Car Audio and Big Three (Alternator, Battery, Wires)?

So I have 2 12%26quot; L5s and some other mid and high range speakers running about 1500 RMS...Driving for the first time the other night and I knew this was going to happen lights dim to about halfway...It%26#039;s bad

What is the first component to go? (Alternator or Battery)

I was thinking alternator because it can no longer provide sufficient power flow to the battery which is being drained by my 0/1 gauge wire to Alpine PDX-1.1000 (1180RMS birth) and MRP-F450 (280RMS)

I can get HI OUTPUT alternators for my specific car online for about $150-$175 and they are almost 3 time the amp rating as the factory dying one. I will try to find the correct size (51R) battery for my car either (Optima, PowerCell, or Kinetik) Those are some of the brands I have heard. Should I get deep cycle and what is this and dry cell?

Thanks I am pretty informed just need a little advice from you car enthusiasts.
Help with Car Audio and Big Three (Alternator, Battery, Wires)?
1500W RMS is a lot of power. A large wet cell battery is fine. (Lead Acid) It would also pay for you to place a large capacitor (1 or 2 Farad) in Parallel with the load from the Battery, as when the Amp takes a large spike from the Battery, it will take it from the Cap instead. You will also need to increase the size of the wires, as if you try to pull more current they will increase in temperature, as well as limit the amount of current supplied.

Is this a good sub? Would i be better off getting two 12 inch subs (not kickers) that would be out of my budget.

any suggestions? what would be the hardest hitting set up for around 500 bucks that still has pretty good sound quality?

Thanks!
What is better, one 15 inch kicker or two 12 inch kickers?
no, 1 new 15%26quot; L7 is around $450. and square subs aren%26#039;t made for sound quality, just to move more air for more bass.
What is better, one 15 inch kicker or two 12 inch kickers?
how about one 12in in a properly ported box? that would sound much better imo
Reply:first of all common sense, if you have to ask THIS question, you shouldnt need either/or.

to answer your question, the two 12 inch subs that are out of your budget would be better depending on brand etc...
Reply:do 2 12s they will provide a more puchy sound than 1 15 sealed. or like the previous poster said 1 12 ported.
Reply:l7 are realy good at what they do there loud but is sq is pretty bad i would say go with two 12%26quot; kicker comps if you want loud and decent sq , you could also go for one JL w6 or two w3%26#039;s for around the same amount and get much better sq with less bass

Well, I don't have a face that can come out of the dash, but how would I get a stuck CD out of my stereo?

1.change your cd system

2.if not CLEAN IT,have you ever hear that word?

I have two subs for my car... Now what?

My brother gave me 2 DHD subs in an enclosure. I have no wires, a stock head unit, and stock speakers. Basically, all I want to do is to get the subs working. I don%26#039;t need the best sound system, so I don%26#039;t think i%26#039;m going to replace the speakers... I know that they%26#039;re 800 watts just cause they say on them, but idk if they%26#039;re 800rms or 800 peak. Also, they%26#039;re 12%26#039;s. What should i do?
I have two subs for my car... Now what?
get an amp im guessing 400w @2ohms and an LOC if the amp doesnt have high inputs
I have two subs for my car... Now what?
well, youll need a box. so build one yourself or buy them. Im sure that 800 watt rating is peak and not rms. Those speakers are probably 300-350 rms speakers, which is very loud! So youll need a two channel amp to power them, and a wiring kit. i dont know if those speakers are rated at 2 ohm or 4 ohm, but if you can find a model # you should look so you could get an amp. mine is 4 ohm and thats very common.

If you dont plan on installing an aftermarket head unit, youll need an amp with speaker level inputs. That lets you tap into youre speaker wire to send your audio signals to the amp. Basically, those speaker level inputs (i think theyre also called line level inputs) replace the RCA preouts that youd see on the back of an aftermarket head unit. and youll need what the previous guy said, a line out converter for those level inputs.

Finally, youd need a wiring kit. They get expensive, but i bought mine at walmart. It cost 35 dollars and it was a 4 gauge. And its all copper, not mixed with anything, so its clean power, and copper is copper. Im happy with it, so wire most people say to go with good wiring, and i agree with them. Just make sure its all copper and not the copper thats mixed with someting else.

so to simplify.

2 channel amp with line level/speaker level inputs.

wiring kit

boxes for the subs (there are different types of boxes. ported, sealed, bandpass are the common ones. ported gives you big boomy bass and is louder than sealed enclosures. sealed boxes give you tight accurate bass, but you need to give the subs alot more power to be loud opposed to ported boxes.

the amp is going to be expensive, thats a **** ton of power its goign to take to power those things. Id almost say just to buy a 250-300 rms amp and run one of those subs. I have a 200 watt rms amp and sub and i think its plenty loud enough for me.

i dont know this for sure either, you may want to wait for an answer from an expert. but i know if you start messing around with 500 rms or more, you may need a capacitor to reduce the strain on your alternator. Again, im not familiar with that, but ive read quite a bit before i did my system and ran across that

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://car-audio4.blogspot.com/2009/03/i-have-two-subs-for-my-car-now-what.html' title='I have two subs for my car... At 800 rms will i need a capcitor?
You can get away with no capacitor but you lites will probably dim to the music a little when its really bumping. For the speaker wire use at least 10GA. For the amp run 8 GA.. It depends on the amp on how you should wire the speakers. being the speakers are in one box you should wire them mono (1 channel). Kickers are great speakers if your amp is bridgeable, bridge it. The more power to your kickers the better. Depending on the size of your kickers 800 watts should do. I would recommend more like 800 watts per speaker for most kickers for the best punch.
How do i wire 2 kicker comp vr subs in a single box to an amp at 4 ohms. I have no problem with buying used. I%26#039;ll probably get most of the stuff off ebay. My car is a 1995 Ford Probe SE hatchback. I%26#039;m wanting to put in a sub or two, some component or coaxials for mids/highs up front, and an amp. The car already has 2 Boston Acoustic 2-way speakers in the front door panels, i haven%26#039;t looked in the back yet. I hear that this is a very good brand, but they ones I have distort at higher volumes. Could this be due to the p.o.s. head unit (Sony Xplod) and not having a good amp? I%26#039;m positive they are not blown. The speaker size can be 6in in the front and 6x8 in the back. Will the ones i have work with a better head unit or amp, should i change to component, or should i mod the back to fit 6x9%26#039;s? I just wanna have loud crisp highs that aren%26#039;t completely drowned out by the bass. As far as subwoofers, I%26#039;ve looked at MANY brands and makes, and have narrowed to either the Alpine Type E or R, an MTX Sledgehammer Enclosure -%26gt;
Can someone please help me decide on this car audio equipment?
no amp and a p.o.s head unit will make your speakers sound nasty. you need an amp. a new head unit wont hurt. i got one of these line drivers http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7195... and this is great. you can crank the signal up going to your amps and you dont have to turn the head unit up as high to get the same volume. i did remove it to put this one in instead http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3847... because it has a clip indicator on it and the light flashes when i send a bad signal to my amps that way i know to cut back. i know you said you were on a budget and i know this stuff get costly and they sell cheaper units like what i showed you i saw one for like $20 i just didnt want to suggest something to you that i havent used and i dont trust
Can someone please help me decide on this car audio equipment?
i had a 97 mamzda 626 with over 1000 watts and the only thing that i needed was a good capacitor..im sure the battery life will shorten so you may want to think about that too. i would really consider the type R sub and find an amp with 5 channels to push everthing..if your looking for a 12 inch woofer, get an amp that will will push it at least 250 watts @ 2 ohms..and get rid of that p.o.s sony radio...hope this helps

Ford Taurus 1996 CD Changer Wont Read!!!?

my changer wont read most cd%26#039;s, i have a CD that works and i tried it in every slot of the cartrige, any ideas? I have seen what kind of radio fits in your car pretty much anything should be good as long as you don%26#039;t get a double din radio. But as far as regular radios you will be OK and in dash any where from 5 to 7inch screens you will be OK. even a 1 din in dash will be OK. Also you will need a car stereo install kit and a wiring harness to make the install quick and easy. The speakers wise I would change them out to aftermarket speakers. Depends the stock speakers in the car have paper cones which deteriorate over time bad causing distortion and cracking. then with a new radio it will up the bass a bit causing these speakers to go worse quicker. So i would upgrade and you don%26#039;t have to spend that much either. You can probably get all around pioneer for less than 100 bucks just look around you know. here are few websites for radios and car speakers

www.woofersetc.

www.onlinecarstereo.

www.millionbuy.com

Car systems?

i noticed in my car that the cd player%26#039;s dB is different from that of the speaker. How are these two related? and should there be one that is higher than the other or should they be similar?

The cd palyer says: noise voltage range (96 dB)

The speakers say: sensitivity (87 dB)
Car systems?
the cd player is basically telling you how high the dB can go with those speakers. and i think the speakers saying 87 dB is how high it is right now
Car systems?
The DB rating of a speakers is just a rating of it%26#039;s efficiency.

1Watt of power applied, and the output is measured at 3m, So in other words it produces 87db with 1W of power measured at 3m.

You don%26#039;t need to match anything up.
